FAQs
Is Alpha Kappa Psi for business majors only?
Alpha Kappa Psi is open to all students who express an interest in professional business development, and that includes all majors. We have had Neuroscience, Political Science, Pre-Law, Pre-Med majors and many other majors as fully participating and leading members. Many majors don't provide the same professional development skills that the business school provides so rushing AKPsi is a great way to develop professionally and get some time in Foster!
Don’t fraternities mean men only?
Alpha Kappa Psi is a professional fraternity. Unlike social fraternities, professional fraternities have proudly included women for decades. Women have held membership in Alpha Kappa Psi since 1976.
What is the minimum GPA required to join Alpha Kappa Psi?
AKPsi requires a minimum 3.0 GPA to rush and maintain membership.
I'm only a Freshman. Can I still join?
According to the university policy, Freshman students are unable to join Greek organizations until the Spring semester of their first year.
There are a lot of rush events. What rush events should I go to?
It is not mandatory for students to attend every event. However, it is highly recommended. The more events you attend, the more you get to mingle with brothers and leave a lasting impression. We often have invite-only events during recruitment. In order to get invited potential new members must attend at least 2 recruitment events.
What types of events will I experience in AKPsi?
We are involved in numerous events throughout the year. Professional events include notable guest speakers from a variety of companies and industries, presentations on current events and relevant industry topics, and participation in school-sanctioned professional events. Philanthropic events include many volunteer events, various fundraisers, as well as several events with our official philanthropy: American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
In addition, our bros are always together. Whether it's going to Shorty's after chapter, participating in a Fantasy Football league or having a massive 'Bros-giving' there is so much to do!
Why would I rush AKPsi over a social fraternity or sorority?
You are allowed to be a member of both a social fraternity/sorority and Alpha Kappa Psi. Alpha Kappa Psi is America’s first business fraternity. We hold social and professional events to assist our brothers in their future business aspirations. Not only will you join a lifelong brotherhood, but you will simultaneously be joining a network of future business partners.
